Your First Visit

Patient Forms

Upon entering our office, our receptionist will greet you and welcome you to our clinic.  We will request that you fill out some electronic patient forms.

Consultation

Next you will have a consultation with the treating doctor to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options. Your first visit is designed to learn more about you, your condition and your expectations, and to determine if chiropractic care will help you meet your goals.

Examination

After your consultation, we will perform a complete chiropractic examination which may include testing reflexes, studying how your spine moves, as well as other standard neurologic, orthopedic, postural, and physical examinations. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.

Radiographic Studies

Depending on the exam findings, it may be necessary to have images taken of a specific area.  We refer to centers specializing in X-ray and MRI technologies, and will work with your insurance plan to get you the images you need.

Report of Findings

Once we have gathered all the necessary information and the examination has been performed, we will schedule a follow-up visit to answer our three most common questions:

  1. Can you help me?
  2. What do you recommend that I do to get better?
  3. How much is it going to cost?

After reviewing with you your history and your goals, examining your spine and any x-rays or tests, we will discuss recommendations with you. If you have a condition that requires care with other providers, we will refer you appropriately. If we believe we can help you, we'll get you started on a customized treatment program.

Treatment

Patients will generally be provided with their first treatment after the Report of Findings. This may include adjustments, physiotherapy, and/or soft tissue therapies.  Treatment is interactive, so please express any concerns you have about your comfort.

Home Care

Prior to leaving, patients will be instructed on how to care for themselves at home. If you are in pain when you first come into our office, this may include ice or heat application instructions, avoidance of certain activities or positions, as well as home exercises and/or stretches.  If you desire an overall wellness lifestyle, our team will work with you to create good habits and routines that support your success.  Every body is unique, and therefore everyone requires customized care.  The foundation for a healthy lifestyle is maintaining a good posture and spinal alignment, eating well, taking supplements if necessary, good exercise habits, and stress management.
